Our rear-wheel drive performance coupe.
When you set out to build an entirely new high-end sports car, you need to bring a perfect balance of power and brains to the table. Hyundai has. The result: the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. The Genesis Coupe is an exercise in balance: brains and brawn, technology and hardware, thoughtfulness and raw strength. What that balance provides to the driver is quick, agile, powerful performance on the road – complemented by a range of amenities usually found only in much more expensive sports cars. Underpinning the Genesis Coupe is its rear-wheel drive architecture: a layout that provides exceptional weight balance for superior handling, with power directed to the road for exhilarating acceleration. Reining in the Genesis Coupe’s 300+ horsepower are available race-proven Brembo® brakes, while a Torsen® limited-slip differential gives you added control on uncertain surfaces. Inside, thoughtful amenities abound, like standard power windows and door locks, cruise control, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, a BluetoothTM Handsfree Phone System as well as available paddle shifters, a push-start button and much more. But what puts the Genesis Coupe luxury sports car in a category of its own, though, may be its affordability. How can something that feels so irresponsible be so fiscally responsible? Take the new Genesis Coupe for a drive and find out.
Looks the part from every angle.
One look at the Genesis Coupe’s striking exterior lets you know its true purposes: performance and handling. The first clue is its profile, with a striking musculature that incorporates a short rear deck for a classic sports coupe shape with race-inspired accents. Z-shaped bodylines and serpentine detailing grace its surfaces, while a dropped beltline rear-window graphic enhances driver and rear passenger visibility. Continuity of design is achieved using body colour bumpers, door handles and dual, power-heated, manual folding exterior mirrors. Its available 19-inch alloys and staggered wheel stance further accentuate the Genesis Coupe’s aggressive build and performance. Genesis Coupe’s focus on design is evident from front to back. Up front, available Xenon high-intensity discharge (HID) headlights use a precision-cut design, providing improved nighttime visibility. Each lamp also features an auto-leveling function to keep the headlights level regardless of how the vehicle is loaded. Out back, the Coupe’s bodyline is carried through the tail lights and rear deck, terminating at the sporty chrome-tipped dual exhaust. It’s an aggressive and cohesive design that signals the Genesis Coupe’s intentions and prepares the driver for what’s in store when the pedal is pushed.
The Genesis Coupe interior is built with performance driving in mind.
From the moment you slip inside, it’s clear that the interior of the new Genesis Coupe is race-inspired, with a focus on two-on-the-wheel driving. Every control falls easily to hand for efficient driving. Seats – in traditional 2 front/2 rear configuration – are firm and supportive to hold you in place. A glance down reveals aluminum foot pedals to complement the sporty character of the GT models, while the Premium Package model is adorned with leather seats, leather interior accents and heated front seats. To enhance the journey, enjoy the precision sound of the Genesis Coupe’s available Infinity™ AM/FM/XM/6-CD changer/MP3 audio system with available 10 speakers. Plus, get a 3-month complimentary subscription to XM Satellite Radio (standard on all models). And – once again – to keep your hands firmly where they should be, standard steering wheel-mounted audio controls prove that driver convenience is our priority. Of course, other thoughtful amenities abound too, like power windows, power door locks, cruise control, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, a BluetoothTM Handsfree Phone System and much more. You can even enjoy a sunny day or the night sky under an available 2-way power glass sunroof that tilts up or slides open with just one touch of a switch. Whether you’re nimbly navigating tight streets in town or carving sweeping country roads, you’ll quickly appreciate the thoughtful engineering and performance capabilities of Hyundai’s new rear-wheel drive sports car: the 2010 Genesis Coupe.
In the Genesis Coupe, we’ve factored them into every decision.
When you’re travelling in a vehicle built for spirited performance and outstanding handling, you want to ensure you arrive safely. Genesis Coupe has been designed with just that goal in mind. The Hyundai Genesis performs with your choice of two powerful, reliable engines: the 210 HP 2.0L turbocharged intercooled 4-cylinder, 16-valve, DOHC with Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) or the 306 HP 3.8L V6, 24-valve, DOHC with Dual CVVT. And Genesis Coupe comes standard with a 6-speed manual transmission, or the option of a 5-speed electronic automatic transmission with lockup torque converter and paddle shift with SHIFTRONIC™ (on 2.0L, except GT) or ZF 6-speed electronic automatic transmission with torque converter and paddle shift with SHIFTRONIC™ (on 3.8L). Standard on all Genesis Coupe models is Electronic Stability Control with Traction Control System (with one-push defeat), a cutting-edge driving stability system designed to sense oversteer and understeer conditions. During unexpected and dangerous situations, it adjusts the braking power of each wheel utilizing the Traction Control System to help restore the driver’s intended course. Complementing the Genesis’ performance is an unparalleled level of safety features, including an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA). And should the unforeseen occur, the Genesis Coupe is equipped with dual front airbags with Occupant Classification System (OCS), plus front seat-mounted side-impact and roof-mounted side-curtain airbags to surround its occupants in protection.
