Hyundai’s thoughtfully designed midsize sedan.
In the highly competitive “new 4-door midsized sedan” segment of the market, it takes a lot to get on a buyer’s shortlist. It takes even more to come out on top. Fortunately, more is what we’ve put into the 2010 Hyundai Sonata. Thoughtfully engineered, the new Sonata was designed with a number of important things in mind. First, that four doors make life easier for everyone: families, friends, business associates. Next, that styling matters: a sedan should look smart and engaging without drawing attention to itself. And finally, that car buyers want to spend their money wisely, and will recognize good value when they see it. Contributing to that value is an impressive list of standard features: air conditioning, power windows and door locks, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, steering wheel-mounted cruise control and an AM/FM/XM/CD/MP3 audio system with six speakers. The 2010 Sonata is a smart combination of superior performance, safety and fuel efficiency. What’s more, it’s an affordable midsize car, putting a comfortable and rewarding driving experience within reach of many. Get to know the 2010 Hyundai Sonata midsize sedan today.
Looks the part from every angle.
Good design is a rare thing, but you know it when you see it. One look at the 2010 Hyundai Sonata tells you “this just looks right”. There’s a balance. A sense of classic style that suggests energy, with a touch of formality. And lines that reflect a certain decisiveness and certainty of self. Drill down to the details and the impression is the same. There’s a certain grace on the road, from the jeweled projector beam headlamps and available fog lights through to the generously proportioned tail lights: they’re functional of course, but elegantly designed. Side mirrors are body-coloured for an integrated appearance, and are heated and powered for easy adjustment. All around, the Sonata’s bumper fascias and bumper and body side mouldings accentuate Sonata’s fluid design. The chrome front grille accentuates the Sonata’s wheel design and highlights its polished styling, while all models enjoy tinted windows with a windshield sunshade band to decrease sun glare on bright days. Finally, to bring more of the outside in, all models except GL come equipped with a power tilt-and-slide sunroof with one-touch open. The result is a refined, mature, sophisticated sedan with a generous helping of thoughtful details. And these details are how the world differentiates the extraordinary from the ordinary. The Hyundai Sonata interior – designed with comfort in mind.
From the outside, the 2010 Hyundai Sonata exudes a quiet confidence with the promise of understated sophistication. It’s a promise that the interior design keeps. Inside, you’ll experience what can best be described as sensibly luxurious: amenities that work to enhance the driving experience, without getting in the way. Things like power windows with auto up/down for the driver – with pinch protection to protect little fingers – and power door locks. Driver and passenger will appreciate two-stage heated front seats on cold mornings, and everyone will benefit from air conditioning with cabin air filter on hot days. To enhance the journey, enjoy the precision sound of the Sonata’s AM/FM/XM/CD/MP3 audio system with six speakers (GL, GL with Sport Package, GLS) and 6-disc CD changer (on Limited models). To keep your hands firmly where they belong, Sonata offers steering wheel-mounted audio remote controls (on all but GL) and steering wheel-mounted cruise control. Speaking of the Sonata’s steering wheel, it tilts and telescopes to help you find the driving position that’s perfect for you, and is leather-wrapped – along with the gear shift knob – for comfort and grip. To help keep your valuables where they belong, Sonata is equipped with a centre console with two-level storage compartment and fixed armrest. By any measure, the Sonata’s interior is a comfortable, quiet, smart place to be while enjoying the ride. Make plans to experience Sonata for yourself.
In the Sonata, we simply assume you want equal measures of each.
Whether you’re travelling solo, or with friends and family, you want to arrive safely. The Hyundai Sonata takes safety seriously, with an unparalleled level of safety features. Standard on all models is an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD). As well, Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Stability Control with Traction Control System are standard on all Limited and V6 models. Safety is also engineered into the structure of the Sonata in the form of reinforced unibody construction – comprised of high-tensile steel – designed to work with front and rear crumple zones, body side reinforcements and hood-buckling creases to help keep you safe. And should the unforeseen occur, every Sonata is equipped with dual front airbags, plus front seat-mounted side-impact and roof-mounted side-curtain airbags to surround its occupants in protection. When it comes to power, the Hyundai Sonata performs with your choice of two powerful, reliable, fuel-efficient engines: the 175 horsepower 16-valve DOHC 4-cylinder with dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) or the 249 horsepower 24-valve DOHC 6-cylinder with CVVT. Putting that power into motion is a 5-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONICTM (standard on all but GL, where a 5-speed manual transmission comes standard, with the automatic available). The new 2010 Hyundai Sonata blends safety and performance in a four-door sedan you’ll be pleased to drive with the confidence to carry your most cherished people.
